My name is James Joynson. I have been a keen church bell ringer since the age of 10. I started this as a hobby business in 2017 when I was 17 years old.
I have done an apprenticeship in engineering, achieving multiple qualifications. Consisting of Machining (Manual & CNC), Hand Fitting, Electronics and Domestic Electrics. Also including Health & Safety, IT, A-Level Maths & Physics, Mechanical & Electrical Principles.
Based in Gloucestershire, I setup this part-time business to specialise in tubular bells, Ellacombe chimes and tower accessories. I also offer & support repairs & maintenance to singular swing-chimes, steel bells and chime-peals of bells.
Between 2017 and 2024 the business was a hobby-business known as Joynson Model Bells, and it specialised in manufacturing and repairing model display bells. But now I have completely revamped the business into something that tackles an area which most other bell hangers secretly say "don't want to touch".
See below and the "Accessories" page for what I have to offer 🙂
Our main focus is manufacturing & installing new tubular bells to bell towers. Tubular bells were last being manufactured by Harrington, Latham & Co until 1927.
We also repair and service existing tubular bells.

We offer refurbishments and repairs to Ellacombe chime systems from the hammers to the apparatus.
We also manufacture Ellacombe apparatus frames in house.

Steel Bells by Naylor, Vickers & Co are slowly dying out due to corrosion, causing their tonal quality to disintegrate.
We fully support Vickers' steel bells and want as many as possible to survive, carrying out full refurbishments to the actual bells to ensure they last.
